Daisy Gingham Design

I designed this fabric with a special baby girl in mind. Her name is Daisy and her mum, my bestie, loves all things gingham so of course I had to design a daisy gingham print. I designed this print with lilac gingham to start with and then created some other colour ways. The Daisy Gingham design is now available via Spoonflower in lilac, blue, green, pink and nude. The daisy’s are bold and larger scale than the gingham which makes them really pop.

Spoonflower Design Challenge

Although the fabric was designed with a baby in mind, it would also work perfectly for a womens top, dress, swimsuit etc. Daisy gingham is also available in wallpaper, in fact I entered a large scale version of this design in blue gingham in the Spoonflower Break Room Wallpaper Design challenge. I didn’t win the competition but now I am so keen to see it on a wall!

Fabric Choice

I printed this design on a soft, slightly open weave cotton through a local fabric printer and it came out beautifully. If you order this design through Spoonflower, my suggestion would be Petal Signature Cotton, Organic Cotton Sateen (this one is 15 % off + free shipping from today until Friday the 16th of April) or Cotton Poplin to make the Geranium dress and the Organic Cotton Knit (also 15% off at the moment) would also make a super cute romper.

Geranium Dress Sewing Pattern

I used the free Little Geranium Dress sewing pattern to make this dress. This sewing pattern is designed by Rae from Made By Rae and is available for free in the 0-3month size!! Larger sizes are available for purchase too. I’ve made this dress quite a few times for gifts for friends babies and I absolutely love it. Its really easy and only takes a few hours to make. The moment it starts coming together into this tiny, gorgeous little dress gets me every time! This time I wanted to mix it up a little bit so I added some flutter sleeves. I used this tutorial by Make It and Love It to learn how to add flutter sleeves to another pattern and it turned out so darn cute!

I think I might make a matching scrunchy so mum and bub can be matchy-matchy. What do you think?
